Perm. Reg. - B Class

What you need to know

  • This class is for trailers with a gross weight of 3,000 pounds or less.
  • Registration is for the lifetime of the trailer unless the owner elects to increase the trailer weight.
  • Instead of a license plate, the customer is issued a permanent trailer registration sticker (sometimes referred to as a plicker) that is applied to the tongue of the trailer.
  • These trailers are not titled unless a lien must be recorded or the trailer has a previously issued title.
  • When no title is issued, transfer of ownership occurs on the back of the permanent registration card issued to the owner, or with a bill of sale that includes trailer make and model, vehicle identification number, date of sale, buyer's name and is signed by all owners on record. The bill of sale can also be completed on a PS2000.

Initial Registration

  1. A flat registration tax is due.
  2. Have the customer complete a PS2000 and record the empty weight of the vehicle in Section A.
  3. Provide customer with the validated owner's copy of the PS2000. It is a temporary cab card until the application is processed by DVS.
